Deus Logos Ex-Press

This blog is an amalgamation of the ongoing escapades of the Last Word Books Friends & Family Printing Project. We've got an old Chandler & Price Platen Press from 1934(?) named Ampersand stuffed into the back of Last Word and three old Kelsey's at Hungry Hollow Farm. Soon we will be letterpressing local poetry broadsides, beer coasters, chapbooks, flyers, LP covers, cd covers, 'zines and whatever else we can come up with.

Arts Walk Report

As I write this in August and backdate it, hee hee hee.

So the Walk went great tucked away in the dungeon of Last Word printing an Olympia Beer plate from the 30s or 40s, setting a little type, showing our documentary over and over and over again and demonstrating for several rooms full of people over the course of three days. My grandfather, Zane Cosby, dropped by that Sunday and checked out our set-up, showed us several little tiny things that will probably save us hundreds of hours in the long-run and told stories about his old printing presses at The Wilbur Register in Wilbur, Washington long, long ago.

We ended up raising about $55.00 (a drop in the bucket considering we've already collectively incurred about $1200 in overall expenses to date) selling the Olympia Beer Broadsides. Not too shabby for winging it! Community Print is definitely more functional than we are but we'll get there in the next year. Stay tuned and thanks for your interest!
